The Premier League 2024-25 season has definitely been a whole new ball game for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers.
One of the biggest hurdles this season has been dealing with the inflated prices of players who were standouts in the previous campaign. With many of last year’s top performers seeing their prices skyrocket, managers are finding it harder to juggle their budgets and build a balanced squad.
Let’s take a closer look at 5 players who’ve seen the biggest price jumps this season.
1. Cole Palmer (Chelsea)
Price Increase: £5.0m to £10.5m (+£5.5m)
Known for his goal-scoring knack, creativity, and flair, Cole Palmer has wasted no time making an impact at Chelsea since his move from Manchester City. He quickly became the team’s standout player, finishing last season with an impressive 22 goals and 13 assists, racking up a huge 244 FPL points. His budget-friendly price made him a popular pick among managers and it’s no surprise he was one of the most owned players of the season.
This season, Palmer’s early performances have only strengthened his case as one of the most exciting options in FPL. With his solid form, his price has understandably shot up, highlighting his ability to deliver the goods once again.
2. Jean-Philippe Mateta (Crystal Palace)
Price Increase: £5.0m to £7.5m (+£2.5m)
Jean-Philippe Mateta played a key role in Crystal Palace’s attack last season, scoring some crucial goals, including a memorable hat-trick on the final day. He finished the season with 16 goals, more than doubling his total from the previous three seasons combined.
Mateta really found his groove in the second half of the campaign, and his clinical finishing has caught the eye of FPL managers. As a result, he’s seen a price increase, moving from a budget option to more of a mid-range pick.
3. Anthony Gordon (Newcastle United)
Price Increase: £5.5m to £7.5m (+£2.0m)
Anthony Gordon’s move from Everton to Newcastle was a game-changer for him, bringing a real spark to his form. He finished the season with a string of standout performances, becoming a key figure in Newcastle’s attack and a regular starter. With 11 goals and 16 assists, he more than doubled his goal tally from the previous two seasons of just 8 goals combined, making him one of the most dynamic players in the team.
Gordon’s dribbling, pace, and ability to score have made him a favourite among FPL managers and his new price rise reflects that.
4. Phil Foden (Manchester City)
Price Increase: £7.5m to £9.5m (+£2.0m)
Phil Foden was absolutely instrumental in Manchester City’s Premier League title win last season, racking up 19 goals and 8 assists which was his best-ever goal contribution tally in a single campaign. His stellar performances were recognised as he clinched the Premier League Player of the Season award, a well-deserved honour.
Foden made a habit of stepping up in big moments, with three hat-tricks against top teams like Manchester United, Brentford, and Aston Villa, proving his ability to deliver when it matters most. Despite the fierce competition for places in City’s attack, his impressive stat have led to a rise in his FPL price.
5. Bukayo Saka (Arsenal)
Price Increase: £8.5m to £10.0m (+£1.5m)
Bukayo Saka was a key figure in Arsenal’s title push last season, finishing with 16 goals and 14 assists. It was the second time he hit double digits in both categories, and he even improved on his goal tally from the previous season, where he scored 14.
Saka’s consistency and his threat on the right wing have made him one of the most reliable assets in FPL. Add to that the fact that he’s Arsenal’s main penalty taker and it’s clear why he’s become a premium option.
Besides Saka, Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz, Manchester City FC keeper Stefan Ortega and Manchester United FC winger Alejandro Garnacho also received price rises of +£1.5m each.
