The Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is one of the world’s most popular fantasy sports games, engaging millions of managers every season. Since its launch in 2002/03, several Premier League icons have consistently dominated the charts, delivering impressive attacking returns that have left a lasting impact on the game. Five players have claimed the top-scoring spot in a single season multiple times, while Mohamed Salah and Frank Lampard stand out as the only two to achieve this feat three times.

But which of these players’ seasonal point totals rank among the top five all-time? Let’s dive in and find out.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool, 2017/18 season) – 303 points

The Egyptian King, Mohamed Salah, made an unforgettable impact on FPL when he joined Liverpool in the 2017/18 season. Returning to the Premier League after a brief spell with Chelsea, Salah became the first—and only—player to surpass the 300-point mark, amassing an incredible 303 points from 32 goals, 12 assists, and 26 bonus points in his debut Liverpool season. Since then, he has consistently scored over 200 points each season, solidifying his status as the “King of FPL.” Starting that remarkable season at £9.0m and finishing at £10.6m, he has not been priced below £12.0m since.

This season, Salah has already passed the 100-point milestone, currently sitting at 107 points in just 11 games, with an impressive average of 9.7 points per match. Could this be the season he sets yet another FPL record?

Luis Suarez (Liverpool, 2013/14 season) – 295 points

The Uruguayan striker, became the talk of the town with his explosive performances that season. Despite missing the first five matches due to suspension, he returned to the Premier League in scintillating form, breaking numerous FPL records. While Liverpool narrowly missed out on the title to Manchester City, Suárez’s individual brilliance was undeniable. He finished the 2013/14 season with a staggering 295 points, thanks to 30 goals, 25 assists, three unforgettable hat-tricks, and 40 bonus points.

Frank Lampard (Chelsea, 2009/10 season) – 284 points

The debate over who was the best between Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, and Paul Scholes has raged on for years, but when it comes to FPL, Lampard clearly comes out on top. In fact, he is one of only two players, alongside Mo Salah, to top the FPL points chart three times—2004/05, 2008/09, and 2009/10. His most impressive season came in 2009/10, when his continued brilliance in the Premier League helped Chelsea clinch the title after a three-year drought.

Lampard ended the season with 284 points, scoring 22 goals, providing 14 assists, and racking up 37 bonus points throughout the season. With 36 appearances, he averaged a goal contribution in every game, showcasing his unparalleled consistency.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United, 2007/08 season) – 283 points

Former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is widely regarded as one of the greatest foreign players ever to grace the Premier League. A two-time FPL top scorer, he accumulated 283 points that season, with 31 goals, six assists and 35 bonus points. Not only did he finish as the highest-scoring FPL player, but he also claimed the prestigious Ballon d’Or. His remarkable individual performance played a pivotal role in helping the Red Devils secure yet another Premier League title, reaffirming their status as Champions of England.

Erling Haaland (Manchester City, 2022/23 season) – 272 points

Erling Haaland burst onto the Premier League scene with a bang in his debut season with Manchester City. The Norwegian striker shattered records with 36 goals—the most in a single Premier League season—along with nine assists and an incredible 40 bonus points, amassing 272 FPL points by the end of the campaign.

Although he ranks fifth on this list, Haaland’s devastating performances have already made him one of the most feared players in the Premier League. With his incredible potential, he’s well-positioned to climb higher in the rankings in the seasons to come.
