Fantasy Premier League (FPL) has become more than just a game, it’s a passion for millions of football fans around the world.

Every weekend, millions of us eagerly check our teams, hoping that our picks will deliver big returns. And every once in a while, a player delivers a performance so exceptional that it sends fantasy managers into a frenzy. Those are the moments we live for in FPL: the massive point hauls that can define a season.

Whether it’s a single-match wonder or a double gameweek haul, those high-scoring gameweeks are what keep us coming back for more.

We’re taking a trip down memory lane to revisit the best individual performances in FPL history, showcasing the players who turned a regular gameweek into an unforgettable fantasy spectacle.

1. Wayne Rooney – 32 Points (GW22, 2009/10)

Kicking off the list with an absolute FPL legend—Wayne Rooney. In GW22 of the 2009/10 season, he delivered one of the best gameweek performances we’ve ever seen, hauling a massive 32 points. This was a double gameweek for Manchester United, with matches against Burnley and Hull City.

Rooney’s first game saw him score once and assist another as United beat Burnley 3-0, earning him 12 points. But it was his second match that truly blew up. Against Hull City, Rooney bagged FOUR goals, which helped him rack up 20 points in a single game despite receiving a minus one for a yellow card. Rooney ended the season with PFA Player of the Year honour.

2. Harry Kane – 31 Points (GW37, 2016/17)

Harry Kane’s performance in the 2016/17 season’s GW37 is one of the most iconic in FPL history. Kane went absolutely berserk, scoring a whopping 4 goals and registering 1 assist in Spurs’ 6-1 demolition of Leicester City. He earned 24 points from that game alone. But he wasn’t done there. Kane added another goal against Manchester United in the same gameweek, bringing his total to 31 points.

He finished the season with 224 points and helped Spurs secure a second-place finish that season with 86 points.

3. Yaya Toure – 31 Points (GW31, 2013/14)

Yaya Tourr was an absolute beast during the 2013/14 season, and his performance in GW31 was a true testament to that. In a double gameweek, the Ivorian scored a hat-trick against Fulham, bagging 21 points from that one match alone. He then scored against Manchester United, collecting another 10 points for the gameweek.

Touré finished the season with 20 goals and 9 assists, playing a key role in Manchester City’s second Premier League title in three years. He was a must-have in FPL that season, with many managers profiting heavily from his monstrous performances.

4. Kevin De Bruyne – 30 Points (GW36, 2021/22)

Kevin De Bruyne’s 30-point haul in GW36 of the 2021/22 season was one for the ages. His first match of the double gameweek was fairly quiet. He recorded just one assist in Man City’s 5-0 win over Newcastle, giving him 6 points. But in the second game, KDB went full throttle against Wolves, scoring a stunning hat-trick in the first 24 minutes of the match. And as if that wasn’t enough, he completed his rout with a fourth goal in the 60th minute.

All in all, De Bruyne ended the week with 30 points, producing an absolute masterclass in FPL.

5. Mohamed Salah – 29 Points (GW31, 2017/18)

While the others on this list did it over two games, Mohammed Salah managed to haul 29 points in a single match! In GW31 of the 2017/18 season, Salah produced one of the most memorable performances in FPL history by scoring four goals and providing one assist in Liverpool’s 5-0 win over Watford at Anfield. It was an extraordinary display, and it stands as one of the highest point hauls in a single gameweek, particularly when you consider the competition in the league.

Salah went on to finish the season with a record-breaking 303 FPL points, making him the only player to ever surpass 300 points in a season. He broke the previous record of 295 points set by Luis Suarez in the 2013/14 season.

6. Jean-Philippe Mateta – 29 Points (GW34, 2023/24)

In the 2023/24 season, Jean-Philippe Mateta joined Mo Salah in the 29-point club, also scoring four goals and providing an assist in a double gameweek. Mateta’s haul came against West Ham and Newcastle, and his FPL performance was absolutely clinical. While Salah’s record was set in a single game, Mateta’s achievement is still massive, one that shows the unpredictability of FPL.
